Because one blog post was not enough to introduce you to the tools used in fiber optic installation, here is the second part, where we will look at devices that we often overlook, but are very important when it comes to fiber optics.
Messenger Strippers

These tools have blades that allow the separation of the fiber optic cable from the messenger wire so that it can be attached to hardware. Some also strip the insulation from the messenger wire for a more secure grip.
Kevlar Shears
As we know, aramid is a very strong material and therefore not easy to cut with common scissors. To solve this, we have Kevlar shears, which, although at first glance look like any other normal scissors, have much stronger blades and are made of a more resistant material, allowing for quicker and easier cutting.
Remember that to make a splice, you have to cut the optical fiber? But what happens to the leftover fiber that has already been cut? It is very important that these residues are placed in a container and kept tightly closed to avoid harm to users or people working in the area, since fiber, as we know, is glass and can easily get embedded in the skin or even fly easily, causing more severe damage, such as to the eyes.
For this, it is recommended to use a waste collector and precision tweezers similar to eyebrow tweezers to pick up the fiber and place it in the appropriate container.
