Mason's trowels are a tool used to prepare a mix, transfer it, assist in laying bricks, and, in some cases, finish surfaces. Therefore, it is essential to know each type and its recommended application to choose the most suitable one.

• Shank: One of the most important parts is the connection of the shank to the blade, as it determines the main type of trowel. If it is a single piece, it is called forged; conversely, if they are joined to the trowel by welding, it is called welded.
• Handle: Depending on the shank's attachment angle, it is more or less inclined for a better grip. It can be made of wood, fiber, plastic, leather, composite material, or other non-slip materials.
• Ferrule: Only present on wooden handles, its function is to prevent the handle from breaking due to the pressure exerted during use.
• Blade: This is the most important part of the tool and comes in various lengths and shapes, known in the Mexican market as Philadelphia, Guadalajara, Mérida, and plasterer type.
• Tip: Can be slightly rounded, round, triangular, or straight.
• Heel: This is the back part of the blade and can be straight, rounded, or rhomboidal. Rounded shapes allow holding a greater amount of mortar.
