This is a system for classifying the degrees of protection offered by containers that house electrical and electronic components. It refers to the international standard IEC 60529 and it is very important to know it in order to understand the protection offered by an enclosure, cabinet, or even mobile devices, which must meet this standard to ensure adequate protection for the circuits inside. It is composed as follows:
IP65
IP: Stands for Ingress Protection.
6: First digit indicating protection against solids.
5: Second digit indicating protection against liquids.
Below are the ratings and the scope of protection for each.
