What is a cable lasher?
A cable lasher, also known as a cable lashing machine or spinning cable machine, is a device used for the aerial cable installation technique called lashing.
It was created over 70 years ago and remains a highly sought-after machine, manufactured by various companies, which gives us several models to choose from depending on the project.
How does a cable lasher work?
The lashing technique is used to attach fiber optic, telephone, or other cables to a messenger cable, usually made of steel, providing structure and support to the installation.
The cable lasher is the equipment that helps with this attachment by weaving the fiber optic cable and messenger cable together using a coil of wire. The following image shows the elements used when performing the lashing technique:

This second image shows a cable lasher, which carries wire coils on its sides that will weave and join the cables. Its operation is very simple: a rope is placed underneath it and pulled, causing it to move and the part where the coils are stored to rotate, beginning the weaving process.

How to choose the perfect cable lasher?
The selection of a cable lasher is made considering the following:
• The diameter of the messenger cable
• The diameter of the cable or cables to be lashed
And it should always be checked that the selected wire coil is compatible with your cable lasher.
How is the cable lasher maintained?
Its maintenance is very simple; it requires cleaning after each use, allowing it to dry completely to prevent moisture, storing it in its case, and monthly lubrication of the most important moving parts, ensuring that the lubricant or oil does not reach the traction wheels or the messenger tension roller. However, we recommend following the instructions of each manufacturer.
Don't forget that at INCOM you can purchase your cable lasher, as well as the wire coil to complete the solution.
