Types of Soldering Irons and Stations

A soldering iron is a tool that allows us to solder different connection points in electronic equipment.

Depending on the circuit being worked on, an appropriate soldering iron should be chosen.

Pencil-type soldering iron

This type of soldering iron is the most common; you can find them in wattages ranging from 20 to 60 watts. It is suitable for working on circuits with delicate components such as integrated circuits and surface-mount components.

Gun-type soldering iron

This soldering iron offers high heat output of more than 80 watts and is used in areas with components having thick terminals, such as transformers and connection terminals.

Soldering station

A soldering station is a tool that allows for greater temperature precision when soldering. It features an intelligent control that lets you select the desired temperature for the soldering iron. It is widely used for more precise soldering of components.

There are two types of soldering stations: those with digital temperature control and those with analog control, with digital control being more precise.

Hot air station

This is a type of soldering tool that uses hot air to melt the solder on electronic components. It is primarily used for soldering and desoldering surface-mount components. Like the soldering station, it has a temperature control system that can limit the air temperature, and it can also be analog or digital.
