When trenching or making adjustments to the ground for an installation or the placement of additional elements for our facilities, once finished, it is necessary to close the trench. To do this, they must be backfilled with sand, gravel, or concrete, depending on the type of soil. It is very important to have the necessary equipment to complete and refine our work, and in this post, we want to introduce you to the concrete vibrator.
Concrete vibrators, also known as immersion vibrators, help mix concrete. They reduce the level of trapped air and optimize particle distribution, thereby densifying the concrete and eliminating voids. Voids put our structure at risk and can cause sinkholes in the long term. In Figure 1, we can see a Husqvarna concrete vibrator.
Immersion vibrators have vibrator heads to perform the oscillation; these vibrator heads are tubes with diameters between 25 and 100 mm. The size of the vibrator to use will depend on the type of work to be done. The following is recommended:
25 to 35 mm: Ideal for pillars, thin beams, thin walls, and low-volume work.
35 to 45 mm: For low-volume foundations, slab edges, beams, and screeds.
45 to 75 mm: Fresh concrete, retaining walls, structural supports, and foundations will be an easy job with this tool.
75 to 100 mm: Large-volume footings and foundations.
